I am not a grouch about modern day choruses. I really like some of them. But once in a while I get a hankering for a song with deep theological meaning - something that teaches about the attributes of God rather than a song that emphasizes how I feel about Him.This old hymnal is a great resource for hymns about God's goodness, mercy, sovereignty, power, etc. There is no music included, just the words. I read a couple of hymns from it every day as part of my devotional time to boost my faith in our amazing Lord. It's the richest of theological poetry.

No music, lyrics are odd, no index.
From a title that contains the word "Hymnal", I assumed there was sheet music in this book. There wasn't any sheet music that I saw.
The last reviewer was wrong. There is a full list of hymns by title/first line, all properly hyperlinked, at the back of the document. Unfortunately, there's no easy way to get there. It would be nice if there were a link to the index at the beginning of the hymnal. Its easy enough to add a bookmark, though.
I use these to sing to my kids at night when they are struggling to fall asleep
I bought different hymnals searching for one I couldn't name but this wasn't it. It's fine though. I have since found my Trinity Hymnal which is what I wanted. This will not be wasted and will be donated.
Five Stars for the Hymns. Zero for use. Not one hyperlink. Zero also for index usability. The hymns are not listed by title; they are listed by group (Christ/ incarnation & birth, Life and Character, etc.) Unusable. Get the hard copy or wait until someone takes a few hours and indexes the version.
I obtained this old hymnal in order to have a large print hymnal for use in singing in church. However, it's very hard to get around in it. The Index works if you can quickly access it, but that is very hard to do. I tried creating my own index through the note and highlighting route, but this would be cumbersomen during a worship service. The Otterbein Hymnal will now just be a resource book for me, not something to take along on Sunday mornings.
